Summary August 1971

To be Written

August - Exact Date Unknown

One of C 2/5 Cav's troopers was an extraordinarily good artist.  This depiction of the web gear we lugged around is excellent.  Notice the C-Ration can with triangular holes punched in the side - that's a "field expedient" stove.  (They never showed you this in Basic training.)  One put a "blue tab" in the stove, then a canteen cup of water on the stove with some C-ration coffee - and you had very bad tasting cup of coffee! The artist titled this work "Heavy to Hump."

The identity of the artist is unknown.  His other known drawings are shown on the May 1971 page.  If you know his identity, please notify the Webmaster.
