C 2/5 Cav began the month under the operational control of the 1/12 Cav at FSB Mace, while the remainder of the battalion operated out of FSB Evelyn.  Eventually, C Company worked out of both Evelyn and FSB Jay, a small base secured by one platoon.

July 11

Charlie Company was released from OPCON to the 1/12th, and flew by Chinook from FSB Mace to FSB Evelyn, then a combat assault by Huey to the field.  The "foxhole strength" was 64 men, 3 officers, and 6 attached personnel.  (Source:  S3 Journal 2/5 Cav dtd 11 July 71, pages 1, 2, 3, and 4)
